ANCASTER AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

More than just the Ancaster Fair

As a registered not-for-profit charitable organization, the Ancaster Agricultural Society (AAS) has had deep roots in Ancaster since it began in 1850 with the first Ancaster Fair 174 years ago. Each year, the Fair welcomes 50,000+ visitors of all ages and from all walks of life.

It takes 35 committees with approximately 700 volunteers (many second and third generation) working throughout the year to make it happen.

At the Ancaster Fair you will find agricultural demonstrations, educational displays, horse and livestock shows, field crop, fruit and vegetable competitions, homecrafts, antiques, horticulture, photography and more. There is entertainment for the whole family including music, talent shows, pie eating contests, baby show, church service and of course the demolition derby.

Sustainability

The waste management program was initiated to reduce our garbage  and divert it into recycling, composting and cardboard  reducing waste(garbage} to the landfills. With help from the City of Hamilton and their waste station program we have successfully increased our diversion rates annually ~ 35%- 56% since 2015. I appreciate all my volunteers that help make these numbers possible, if you are able to help with this green venture please notify the office. Thanks

Tradeshows & Events

Although we are widely recognized for our Fair, many people do not realize that the fairgrounds host events year-round. Our facility is used by many community members, businesses, livestock organizations, festivals and commodity groups for a wide variety of events. We also offer four weeks of Ancaster Fair Summer Camp, as well as two Agricultural Education days for grade 3 & 4 students each spring.

Inquire today for your event or stop by the facility to enjoy something that’s always happening here.
