Farm Gate to Dinner Plate
Each year, the Ancaster Agricultural Society hosts Education Days in April and September to help students learn more about how their food is produced.
Activities include topics related to food, nutrition, farming, the environment, and other agricultural issues.
Itβs a full day where every student has the opportunity to rotate through a series of interactive presentations.
It is hoped that teachers will spend time in the classroom prior to this education day, discussing general aspects of food production, so the students will have some awareness of food origins and supply before they attend.
Each teacher will receive a teacherβs kit with information on local commodities and in-class, curriculum-based teaching aids for follow-up to their trip.
Please note the children will visit a barn area with animals.

This is a no-charge, full day program targeted at grades 3 & 4. It is an opportunity for students to learn about agriculture from area farmers and producersβ¦. where their food comes from, how animals are looked after, the difference between vegetables and fruit, and so much more. There will be live animals, hands-on activities and an opportunity to talk to farmers.
