Become a Volunteer

The Ancaster Agricultural Society relies largely on volunteers to carry out our programs and events year round. And we’re always looking for new community members to join our team.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, meet new people, and learn more about the world of agriculture.

We offer a large variety of volunteer roles throughout the year. You don’t have to be a member to volunteer, but as the saying goes, membership does have its privileges so be sure to explore the benefits of membership here.

Whatever your interest, we’ve got something for you.

Explore volunteer and committee opportunities below to see where you might fit!

VOLUNTEER AT THE ANCASTER FAIR

Do you want to give back to the community and have some fun at the same time?

Sign up to volunteer at the Fair!

Every year, we welcome 50,000+ visitors of all ages from across the Hamilton and surrounding community to the Ancaster Fair. It takes 35 committees with approximately 700 volunteers working throughout the year to make it happen.

The Ancaster Fair would not be possible without the amazing people that come out to help each year and we want YOU to join us.

GROUNDS GARDENING

If you have a green thumb, this job is for you!

Every summer, we seek out a few volunteers to look after our flowerbeds in front of Marritt Hall.

Tasks include weeding, planting annuals, mulching, and trimming.

OFFICE HELP

Every summer as we prepare for the Ancaster Fair, we need help in the office, getting mailings out, stuffing envelopes, updating lists, sorting ribbons, and more.

WORKING BEES

Our campus and grounds are busy year-round. And our hardworking volunteers are what allows the AAS to be a successful community space, event centre, and more. Working Bees are large scale volunteer events to help us maintain our grounds and work on large scale projects.

Check our events calendar for scheduled working bee events that arise throughout the year!
